Report: India mulls price cap on Russia oil – US official
WASHINGTON, Sep 7 (PRIME) -- India is sending reassuring signals that it is open to the idea of capping the price of Russian oil, U.S. Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo told Bloomberg newswire late on Tuesday.
He said that he had received a reassuring message from the Indian oil minister last weekend about the country’s joining the mechanism of limiting the price of Russian oil.
On Tuesday, Indian business daily The Economic Times reported that India would consider supporting the U.S. suggestion on the price cap only if supplies from the U.S. sanction-hit countries like Venezuela and Iran are guaranteed.
